LIVERPOOL'S title claims were again thrown into doubt after two more dropped points.
The Reds followed up consecutive home draws against Fulham and West Ham with another puzzling display at Anfield.
And if it were not for Steven Gerrard, they would have relinquished their unbeaten home record this term.
As it was, Stevie G had to don his superhero outfit once more to rescue his side.
The Kop skipper watched in horror as his side were stunned by Hull's two-goal lead.
But Gerrard struck a quickfire double to make sure Liverpool did not leave empty-handed.
However, they will now lose top spot if Chelsea see off West Ham on Sunday.
Kop boss Rafa Benitez once again left Robbie Keane on the bench as he played Gerrard in the withdrawn striker's role.
Nothing came of that and at the other end Kuyt was just inches away from connecting with Xabi Alonso's free-kick.
But the Tigers rocked the Kop on 12 minutes when Paul McShane leapt highest to finish off Marlon King's knock-back.
It got even worse for the home fans midway through the half when Jamie Carragher put through his own net as he tried to cut out Bernard Mendy's cross.
But Gerrard took it upon himself to turn the game around by popping up to turn home Kuyt's low ball moments later.
And the England midfielder converted from 10 yards after Benayoun had helped on Kuyt's knockdown.
Liverpool almost took the lead after 59 minutes when Sami Hyypia’s downward header from Gerrard’s corner hit the foot of a post.
Then Albert Riera saw a swerving right-footer punched away by Boaz Myhill.
Hull looked happy to sit and defend a point but Geovanni tried his best to regain the lead with a low shot that drifted wide.
Alonso curled a 20-yard shot just over the bar but with time running out and Liverpool needing a goal, Benitez snubbed £20million striker Keane by using Nabil El Zhar, Ryan Babel and Lucas as his subs.
But it was all to no avail as Hull gained a deserved draw.
